8 Simple Tools for Virtual Collaboration during the Coronavirus Scare

— Transforming Organizations, Revitalizing Communities and Developing Human Potential

Here are 8 simple tools & rules for virtual collaboration to improve your online engagements regardless of the platform:

  1. Provide tech support 5-10 min. before the meeting - this is often as simple as making sure the audio works.

  2. Self mute [even your coughs and sneezes].

  3. Keep your video on [to be connected to the group].

  4. Don’t split yourself in half: Try not to be facilitator, leader, and note taker all in one. Make someone co-host/ co-facilitator.

  5. Provide at least a basic agenda to allow participants to feel settled as they enter your session.

  6. Align virtual groups using a pattern interrupt - a mindfulness activity

  7. Manage/Limit Round Robin Check-INs & Introductions as appropriate by giving a word or sentence limit.

  8. USE BREAKOUT ROOMS!
